 real retro fun! flea finds: 1. tablecloth (bright cheery 50s prints) small stains and small holes are OK other materials: 1. two curtain rods (1/2" dia. or 3/4" w rod) 2. matching thread 3. ribbon for tiebacks 4. 2 cup hooks 5. steam iron 6. sewing machine directions: 1. required yardage /1 edge of cloth = valance length + curtain length + 10" other edge = 2X rod length 2. determine needed width of panel(s) a)curtains = length of mounted rod X 2 (divide by 2 = measurement for each panel) b)valance = length of mounted rod X 2 3. determine needed length of panel(s) a)measure from top of rod to desired finished length of curtain or valance b)add 4 3/4" for curtain headers (gives a 1" header and 1 1/2" casing) c)if a bottom hem is needed, add 2" more to measurement 4. cut the tablecloth panels the determined width and length 5. if side or bottom hems are needed, press each side 1" to wrong side; repeat and stitch in place 6. to make header and casing a)press top edge of panel 1" to wrong side b)press edge 2 3/4" to wrong side again stitch 1/4" from bottom fold c)measure and mark 1" from top of panel on each side edge of panel and stitch across from mark to mark 7. insert rod into casing and hang curtain and valance 8. screw cup hooks into wall/window at desired height of tiebacks 9. knot 1 ribbon length loosely around each curtain panel and hang on cup hook; trim ends tip: chic recycler "flea finds" are found throughout the fleatique house  ask Lee (the flea) for a "flea find" not found in our house!
